Torrence Robbins was born in Cherokee, SC on May 2, 1940. Torrence passed away at the Care Pavillion Nursing home on October 26, 2019. Torrence grew up with his siblings:Pauline and Roxi,Ella Mae, Rufus and Bobby and a sibling, Na-Na that died as an infant. Later, he migrated to Philadelphia.
Although he didn't graduate from high school, he found employment in the Automotive industry. He had a love for Cadillac cars. His auto body shop was located at Carlisle and Columbia Avenues. In the 70's he owned a bar named "town & country" on the 1700 block of Columbia Avenue.
Torrence and Evelyn C. Robbins were united in holy matrimony in 1975. Torrence loved his wife Evelyn and her family, and his feelings were hers as well. Together they raised Ricky, Tarajean, Racquel & Kevin as a family. They were a happy family. He always provided for his family. Everyone can agree Torrence was a dedicated family man. After the death of his wife Evelyn 1996, he remained a single man.
He loved James Brown, he loved to hit the road and travel.
Everyone loved him. He was everyone's favorite uncle. He had good intentions, he was an entrepreneur and a family man. He didn't know how to read but that never stopped him from thriving and surviving. He made sure his kids visited his family and his wife's family in the summer. Especially the holidays throughout their childhood. He didn't allow kids were never allowed to go to public pools, but would allow them to swim at hotels and the beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and 4 of his 6 siblings: The sister who passed as an infant Na-Na,Ella Mae, Rufus and Bobby and son & Kevin.
He leaves to cherish his children: Ricky, Tarajean, Racquel, siblings: Pauline and Roxi, Niece Joann and a host of other family members and friends.
Sorrowfully submitted,
The Family.
