Edward Nelson

February 3, 1951 — May 10, 2020

Edward Lee Nelson was born February 3,1951 in Philadelphia Pa to Eva Marie Nelson and John Paul.  Edward was the oldest of four children; Richard Williams Gail Williams Donald Williams.

Edward enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 during the Vietnam War, after he was honorably discharged from the army he received his G.E.D from Delaware Valley school of trade.  Edward became a certified Welder.

Edward worked for the South Eastern Transportation Authority for a short while as a welder,  He also worked for many  years as a security guard at the Hershey Hotel on Broad st. In Philadelphia, a job he enjoyed and was proud of, as his work uniform was always in pristine condition.   Edward discontinued work because of his disability.

Edward was proceeded in death by both parents and two nephews.

As a father Edward was close to all of his children, which was evident, as he would on many occasions walk from North Philly to West Philly to visit with his youngest daughter.

As a young man Edward played hardball at Connie Mack Stadium on Broad and Lehigh streets in Philadelphia and was quite good at.

Edward also loved watching all types of movies but most of all karate movies, he loved listening to music Bob Marley’s song Excedus could not play without him getting up and dancing to it, Edward  had an enormous amount of rhythm and soul.

Edward was loving; compassionate and easygoing.

Edward leaves to cherish his memories, four children; Anita Herbert(Rodney) Richard Hankerson Keasha Nelson-Davis, (AKA) sweet-a-pea  (Eric) and Edward Shaikia Nelson sixteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He also leaves his siblings; Richard Williams(Tammy) Gail Peterson(Michael) Donald Williams and a host of nieces nephews cousin’s and other relatives and friends.
