Obituary

Gladys Callahan was born on October 5, 1931 in Macon, Georgia, to the late Lee Callahan and Lillie Mae Moore. On February 22, 2020, Gladys answered God’s call of love as she transitioned to her new heavenly home. She was the oldest of three children, Fannie Mae and James (JP) Parker, who both predeceased her in death.

Gladys had two children, Brenda Carol Crabbe and Myron (Barry) Bobo, Sr., both currently residing in Philadelphia. Her lifelong partner William Mosley predeceased her in death in 2014.

Gladys was educated in the public school system of Macon, Georgia. After many years of working at Clover Knitting Mills in Philadelphia; she retired in 1990.

Gladys accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age in North Carolina, where she regularly attended weekly church services with her mother. She would spend the entire day in church, singing on the choir and playing various musical instruments. She enjoyed watching Bobby Jones Gospel Show while sitting in her favorite chair in front of the tv in her living room. She also attended gospel shows along with the love of her life, “Billie”; who sang with a gospel group.

“Mom Gladys”, as she was affectionately called by many, loved entertaining anyone who stopped by to visit. She was an amazing “Soul Food” cooker; on Sundays and Holidays the entire family gathered at her house for food, fun and laughter. She was famous for her use of spicy seasonings, even though the food would be “extra spicy”, that didn’t stop anyone from eating it, it was absolutely the best food ever! She had a comedic side and often said things that kept everyone laughing to tears.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Carol Crabbe and Myron (Barry) Bobo, Sr., 7 Grandchildren, Carolann, Myron, Christopher, Keri, Tiara, Myron (Tank) and Allan, 15 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren, daughter in-law, Belinda, a host of nieces and nephews, special neighbors and longtime special friends, Doreatha Summers and Sharon Scott.

Sorrowfully submitted,
