Gregory Parker Sr.

The world gained a precious gem, Gregory Quincy Parker Sr., on December 1, 1953, born in Hopgood, North Carolina. He was the eldest of two siblings, Melvina Parker and Samuel Parker Jr. II, born to Samuel and Jean Parker. Growing up he excelled in school, his favorite subject was mathematics. He was educated thru the Catholic school system and later completed his education thru Philadelphia School District. He graduated from Overbrook High School. He always had leadership qualities, an entrepreneur spirit. As a young child he lived in West Philadelphia and late moved to East Mount Airy where he met his loving wife Brenda Parker of 42 years. He leaves behind his beautiful and intelligent daughter Ebony, three sons Rodney, Taqua (proceeded him in death), and Gregory Jr. (proceeded him in death). He was affectionately known as D-Bird to all his close friends. Gregory obtained his Carpentry Certification at Delaware Valley Trade School. He worked as a Master Carpenter and was the proud owner of “Double D Construction,” for over 30 years. Gregory was extremely knowledgeable in his craft of carpentry and will be missed by his customers who loved and trusted him. He was a hardworking man that was devoted to his family. He took great pride in providing for his family. He enjoyed watching sports, his favorite team was the Seattle Seahawks and he frequently watched Sunday games with his son in law Adam. His task was complete on February 14, 2020, when God called him home.

Gregory leaves behind one sister (Melvina Parker), one brother (Samuel Parker Sr.), seven grandchildren (Alexus, Najai, Bre’ina, Sincere, December, Simir and Maimus), three nephews (Paul, Samuel, Joseph), one favorite niece (Madinah), eight great-nieces, two great nephews, three great-grands, his mother in law (Betty McNeil) and sister in law (Angela McNeil) and brother in law (Larry McNeil), one son in law (Adam Baggett), one daughter in law (Keia Wilies), and family and friends.
