John Carasquero  March 28, 1957 – February 3, 2021

John (Adam, Big Man, Big John, Big Daddy J ) Carasquero. Born to Lucille & O'Reilly with six other brother and sisters. He was a son, a brother, a cousin, a uncle, a nephew, a father a grandfather and great grandfather to one, and for those who wasn't family a great friend.  He pride himself in his culture and his family. if you met him in a instinct you would say " that’s a real TRINI ". Big John must of stood 6 feet 6 inches but his heart was 10 maybe 11 feet tall. He would never think twice to help out another human being, as big as he was his love extended out further than you can imagine.

His journey thru life brought him many opportunities and taken him to many places. One place for sure that he made known to stand out was Fatima College in 1969. If he wasn't wearing a Trinidad flag he was carrying a Fatima College logo. He took his talents to many places especially with net ball/basketball teams such as the Trinidad and Tobago Touring (under 21) teens and basketball with Pam Jets.

My father will later embark on a journey which would take him to Neal & Massy where he would stumble upon a young lady who heart he would earn and later call his wife. With this beautiful young lady he would begin a life, a life that would bless him with children. Laverne, Marcus, Marc and Machel. In loving their family John & Wife Marjorie took a leap of faith moving their family to another country to help create a better tomorrow for their children. Little did they know, they moved at a time that would introduce their children to a new life  filled with opportunities in Philadelphia as well as the snow.

With these children he would teach them culture, family, soca and sports; (cricket, netball, basketball, soccer and football). If you knew Big John you would know all four. One of his beloved accolades as a father was to be able to say I watch my sons all play in a high championship. He would brag about his grand babies talk his sports and move to rhythm of his “Soca Kingdom” & ‘Calypso Music”. For Big John he was “Mr Fete” an time spent with him was “Epic” and the “Vybz cyah done”, he was “Trini to de bone”, he was about Famalay, he lived with High Mas”. He was “J'ouvert morning” going down the road and for him "Trinidad is my land" and every day he would say “I love being me”, and for sure you would know he was the “Happiest man alive”.
