Life Story

Joseph Robinson Jr. was born on August 28, 1930 in Philadelphia PA. He was the first of six children born to the late Joseph and Mary Robinson.

Joseph enlisted in the military, serving in the United States Army from 1950 through 1953. He ran Track in the Army and received many trophies for his accomplishments. He received an Honorable Discharge.

Joseph attended his schooling in Philadelphia and he graduated from North East High School.

Joseph started his career working for the United States Post Office. He left the Post Office in approximately 1977. He continued his employment career in working Security positions. He retired from working in the 1990’s.

In 1955 Joseph married Josephine G. Cooke and they had a beautiful daughter, Tracey. He traveled to Los Angeles, CA frequently to visit Tracey and his grandchildren, Jasmine and Devin.

Joseph was an avid walker. He decided after he got his driver’s license he decide not to drive at all. So do to his decision to walk instead of driving to destinations he stayed in excellent shape and health up until the last few years of his life.

Being the oldest sibling he was considered the patriarch of the family and he enjoyed taking care of them. The family had many Family Reunions and his role was being the Historian and that was such a great experience for him because he was able to locate family members all the way back to the 1800’s. That became the family’s history to have forever.

On Friday, February 12, 2021 Joseph Robinson Jr. made his transition to heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Robinson Sr. and Mary Robinson, brothers George Robinson, Earnest Robinson and sister Catherine Robinson.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his devoted daughter Tracey (Michelle) M. Harris, loving grandchildren Jasmine Harris and Devin Harris, Brother Benjamin Robinson and Sister Julia Mae Young. He also leaves (3) nieces, Diane Jackson, Kathleen Philip (Harold), and Bianca Williamson; and one Nephew, Andre Young (Yvonne). Joseph also enjoyed doting over his grand nieces and nephews, Kelvin.
