Laura Walker

July 23, 1922 — September 10, 2021

Laura Beatrice Walker, the daughter of the late Julius and Pearl Hines was born on July 23,
1922 in Philadelphia, PA. She departed this life peacefully on Friday, September 10. 2021.

She was educated in the Philadelphia school system.
Laura accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined the Peniel
Baptist Church, founded by Rev. Estee A. Walker in 1933. She participated fully in the church, singing in the Chapel Choir, she was a member of Club Excelsior and she served on the Trustee Board faithfully for many years.

Laura and the late Samuel W. Walker were married for over sixty-three years at the time of his demise in 2005 and their union produced four children, the late Lionel J. Walker, the late Cranston O. Walker, Dr. Kimberly Walker (Fuller) and Courtney V. Walker. Laura was a devoted wife and mother who set an excellent example.

Laura was a talented cosmetologist, sewed beautiful garments, curtains and hung wallpaper expertly, providing a beautiful environment in the home. More importantly, she helped maintain a secure Christian home. She worked for the Federal Government as an Inventory Management Specialist in the Aviation Supply Office (Navy), retiring in 1982.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Dr. Kimberly Walker (Fuller); one son,
Courtney V. Walker; daughter-in-law, Dr. Roma Little-Walker; one son-in-law, Dr. Lonnie E. Fuller, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Heather Ross; one sister, Ellestine Hines; one brother, James Hines of Oakland, California; one sister-in-law, Dr. Cleonia McWhite Jackson Walker; grandchildren, Aariann Vaughn-Sheppard, J.D., Nicole Sykes (Rodney), Courtney Broadus, Allyson Fuller, Kelsey Koelzer and Julius Fuller; one great grandson, Brandon Sheppard; nieces and nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, her Peniel Church family and friends.

In addition, she was a beloved resident of Charter Senior Living of Columbia (formerly Somerford Place of Columbia) in Maryland, where she lived from November 2015 until her transition.
