On Thursday, November 12, 2020, our Heavenly Father, in His infinite wisdom and mercy gently called Reuben to take his rest.
Reuben was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 29, 1951 to Harry and Mary (Pollard) Brunson, the sixth of seven children. He was raised in a loving Christian home with godly values.
He attended the Benjamin Franklin High School, then enrolled in a welding program offered by Dobbins Technical High in order to acquire a trade; he also attended barbering school, which he loved.
Reuben was the proud dad to his three daughters, Cynthia, Kim, and Tiffany. He also married the love of his life, his former wife, Lawanna J. Holmes.
In his younger years, Reuben loved to dance and gather with his friends to reminisce and to joke. He loved being with people, especially his brothers whom he looked up to. They all were like three “Peas in a Pod”, almost inseparable.
Reuben also had a flair for dressing. His reputation as a superb dresser won him many Best Dressed awards from his social club, “Beta Fi Lay” and various others.
He was very considerate and respectful of the elderly, always offering his assistance whenever it was needed. Reuben was loved by those who knew him, and he greeted them with a ready smile, which we all will miss.
Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Harry and his two brothers, Harry and Stoney.
He leaves to mourn: His children: Cynthia Robinson-Lopez (Moises); Kimberly Brunson and Tiffany Simpson. Brothers: Render and Julius Brunson; Sisters: Beverly Adams, Chickie Slaughter (Louis); Grands: Shawn & Diante’ Williams, Brandy, Craig, Kharee, and Deshaun Brunson; Andre, Ayana and Akee Jackson, Toccarah and Mark Byrd, III; Great-grands: and Camal and Clyde Kenion, III and Naeem Brunson. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, especially Loretta Davis and Donna Higgins-King, for being devoted friends.
