Rolister Williams

Rolister Williams, 79, of Philadelphia P.A. passed away on October 12th, 2020.

Rolister Williams was born in the county of Halifax, N.C. to Lesserene Worseley and Earnest Crawley on February 12th, 1941. She was affectionately known as Rose. During her youth, Rose enjoyed being with her family. She attended and participated in marching band and church activities.

Rose started her education in Halifax County N.C. After living there for a while, Rose and her mother moved to Rocky Mountain N.C. and then later on to reside in Philadelphia P.A. It was in Philadelphia where Rose completed her education and graduated from Simon Gratz High School. During this transition from Rocky Mountain to Philadelphia, her mother met and married Levon Robinson. From this union, Alice was born, her sister whom she cherished so much.

Rose was employed and worked as a seamstress at several clothing factories. She became very skillful at her craft of sewing garments. Later on in her working career, she was employed by a company working in the food department.

Rose accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in N.C. Rose joined Temple Divine Love Church in Philadelphia where she would attend with her mother and sister. Later she became a member of the New Tabernacle Baptist Church where she attended with her sons and several family members. As time moved on, she then became a long term member at Mount Airy Church of God in Christ. Rose loved the Lord and made it a point to instill Christian values into her children. Rose lived by example by upholding Christ in her life.

Rose met Harvey at an early state in his military career. They fell in love and were united in Holy Matrimony on May 23rd, 1963. They spent 47 years together until his departure. They were blessed with six sons. Harvey "Dixon," Harvey Williams Jr., Larry Williams, Gregory Williams (deceased), Michael Williams, and Douglas Williams.

Rose had several interests. She loved to listen to gospel music and gospel programs on the radio. She loved to cook for her family especially during times of celebration. Rose loved to grow plants and flowers. She loved watching her shows and programs on the television. During the earlier years, Rose loved to sew. She would make outfits for her sons and family members. Rose loved to visit as well as receive visits from family and friends. Rose enjoyed attending church until her health wouldn't permit. She kept up with current events concerning the news/media. Rose enjoyed doing what she could for the family. Rose would encourage her family to trust in the Lord, He will make a way. Mostly, Rose loved her husband and she really cherished her grandchildren and great grand children, her sons and daughter-in-law. She will be missed but her legacy and love will live on through her family.

Rose was proceeded in death by her husband, Harvey Williams, mother Lesserene Robinson, step-father Levon Robinson, sister Alice Robinson, son Gregory Williams, mother-in-law Martha Lewis, uncles James, Nate, Dolphous (Doc) Grant, William, cousin Joyce, and brother-in-law Richard Williams.

Rose leaves to cherish her memoryher five sons, Harvey "Dixon" Barry, Harvey Williams Jr., Larry Williams, Michael Williams, and Douglas Williams. Daughter-in-law Mary Williams. Nine grandchildren, Martina Williams, Stephanie Williams, Isaac Williams, Ebonee Duncan, Samir Duncan, Marie Shaw, Camara Williams, Nolan Williams, JaCinda Williams. Three grandchildren, Zarek Williams, Derrick Williams, Noah Williams. Nephews Jamaal Robinson, Andre Robinson, and Raheem Robinson. Niece Hakimah Kinard. Aunts Victoria (Bey) Williams, Hattie Lee Worseley, Jeanette Loftlin. As well as a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
